Part of the way children learn to live in a community is trough playing their games only give the impression of being uninhibited and spontaneous; in reality, they are part of socialization process. They are not merely a means of free expression for small children. The community encourages youngsters to make use of “educational toys” that prepare them for their future roles. A little girl mothers a doll, anticipating what she will become herself, dressed as a gown woman, velled if custom demands and invariably modest. Games after mimic adult activity; a little girl will, with the utmost seriousness, carry about on her bach a doll made out of an ear of maize, or a piece of wood wrapped in a rag, just as if it were a real child I should note, that both the little girl playing with her doll and the small boy acting out war games are discovering a way of escaping from their parents authority.
Childhood is a journey full of sudelen changes. At each stage we have to turn our backs on our past life and step into the future that beckons us forword. Dolls represent a sence of innocence. How many of us fried to take control of our own childhood aftering our dolls-catting their hair, adding make-up, or sewing new clothes-as we created safe important worlds for them to live in.Eventually, we grew up, and the dolls we played with were discarded. We interested in other things, more real and scary and exciting.
